Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, says the Mahama administration’s economic agenda goes beyond stabilising Ghana’s economy; rather, it is focused on rebuilding the nation and laying a strong foundation for inclusive and sustainable growth.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Forson said the government’s ongoing reforms reflect a vision of national renewal anchored on discipline, equity, and transformation.

“Mr Speaker, the Mahama Administration is not just stabilising an economy, it is rebuilding a nation,” the Minister stated.

He explained that through the Big Push Programme, the government is connecting regions with modern infrastructure, while the Agricultural Transformation Programme is empowering farmers to become wealth creators.

The 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, he added, are positioning Ghana as a productive, export-led economy “that never sleeps.”

Dr Forson noted that the government remains committed to fiscal discipline, social equity, and sustainable growth, assuring that “no Ghanaian will be left behind.”

“This Budget is more than numbers, it is a message of hope,” he said.

“It tells every Ghanaian child, farmer, teacher, trader, and entrepreneur that their sacrifices matter, that Ghana’s recovery is real, and that their government is working tirelessly to build a fair, prosperous, and self-reliant nation.”

The Finance Minister stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration is consolidating macroeconomic stability and deepening transformation to secure the gains made since 2025.

“The storm has passed. The foundation is firm. The horizon is bright,” he added.

“Together, under the visionary leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, the nation builder, we are building the Ghana we want, a Ghana that works for all, thrives in peace, and stands tall once again as the beacon of Africa’s renewal.”

Dr Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the 2026 Budget theme, “Resetting for Growth, Jobs and Economic Transformation,” saying Ghana is rising “stronger, fairer, and unstoppable.”
