Liberia Airport Authority to Commission Brand New Fire Truck and Tractors

ROBERTSFIELD, Margibi County-Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) has taken a major step in its airport modernization drive and its pursuit of Category 9 status with the arrival of a new, state-of-the-art fire engine at Roberts International Airport. This critical equipment significantly boosts emergency response capabilities, enhancing safety and compliance with global aviation standards.
Complementing this upgrade, LAA has also acquired two heavy-duty tractors for superior airfield maintenance. This ensures consistent vegetation control, which is vital for clear visibility, preventing wildlife hazards, and maintaining a safe operational environment.
These advancements, realized under the leadership of the LAA’s Management Team and Board of Directors, underscore a firm commitment to safety, security, and service excellence.
LAA extends its gratitude to H.E. President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the Government of Liberia, and multilateral partners for their unwavering support in strengthening the nation's aviation infrastructure.
An official commissioning ceremony for the new equipment is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Roberts International Airport.
Expected Dignitaries to grace the commissioning ceremony include, Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan II – Minister of Finance & Development Planning, whose support was instrumental in securing funding, Hon. Sirleaf Tyler, Minister of Transport and Member of the LAA Board of Directors, Senator Saah H. Joseph, Chairman, Senate Committee on Transport, the European Union Ambassador to Liberia, Nona Deprez, The Chairman Board of Airlines Representative, Mr. Clarence A. Crabb, Hon. Julius Dennis, Director General, Liberia Civil Aviation Authority and Hon. Nyan Matein, Chairman, Board of Directors, Liberia Airport Authority.
This achievement highlights the strong commitment of the Government of Liberia and its partners to improving aviation infrastructure and ensuring safer, more reliable air travel.
