The Ministry of Agriculture, with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), is taking a major step forward in strengthening field operations under its Building Climate Resilience Project (BCRP).
A total of 25 new technicians, seven of whom are young professionals, have been recruited as crop specialists, civil engineers, and irrigation experts and will be deployed across Nimba, Lofa, and Bong counties to enhance on-the-ground implementation.
Speaking after the orientation, Project Coordinator Mr. Emmanuel Vah underscored the importance of the move:
“Under the Building Climate Resilience Project, the activities are extensive, and the project was understaffed. Based on that, the Ministry requested additional technicians. These personnel will directly support crop production, vegetables, rice, and other crops, while engineers will strengthen site development and irrigation systems,” he said.
The recruitment process was rigorous and merit-based, ensuring that qualified professionals are ready to contribute to Liberia’s agricultural transformation.
On behalf of the recruits, Patricia Mulbah, who studied general agriculture and has a solid background in crop production and field extension services, expressed appreciation and commitment:
“We are grateful for this opportunity. We are committed to applying our skills to support farmers, improve productivity, and contribute to national development.”
This milestone not only strengthens the BCRP’s implementation capacity but also builds a pipeline of skilled young professionals to drive climate resilience, agricultural productivity, and food security across Liberia.
